Prior to joining the City, Micah served in a variety of roles at the State of Minnesota in the Budget Office, Enterprise Human Resources, and most recently as Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Administration. Micah began his career working in the United States Senate and later on advocacy for senior living communities in Washington DC and around the nation. Micah holds a Master of Public Policy Degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and lives in the Lyndale neighborhood. Stone Arch Discussion February 8th with Hennepin County Commissioner Irene Fernando. The Commissioner is Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopement Authority Chair and shares that experience with us as we discuss affordable housing and homelessness and how we're tackling these issues as a community at the County level. Hennepin County is the second largest public entity in Minnesota and district 2, represented by Commissioner Fernando, includes the west side of Plymouth and I-494 all the way east through Northeast Minneapolis. The diverse district offers many challenges and opportunities and gives us insight into housing issues at every end fo the spectrum. Come join us at Wilde Cafe from 8:30-10 Saturday morning the 8th for hot coffee and hot takes with our new Commissioner, who is also on the Rail Authority and vice chair of Public Safety. We welcome Senator Kari Dziedzic at our Stone Arch Discussion January 11th at 8:30 AM for a Legislative preview. The Senator serves on Taxes, Public Safety and Housing Finance Committees. Join us Saturday morning for a conversation about what is possible, what a bonding bill might look like and what Minneapolis could use. Get in line early at Wilde Cafe for your coffee so that we can conven at 8:30 in the morning sharp. Given the new year stick around after 10 and catch up with events of the past month.
Get ready in the coming months as well. Februar we host our local County Commissioner Irene Fernando, and in March Minneapolis Budget Director Micah Intermill. We'll have lots of time to check up on Minnesota and how we're doing.

Stone Arch Discussion resumes January 11th 2020
Dear Stone Arch, I’m afraid we won’t be meeting Saturday December 14th. We will host Senator Kari Dziedzic January 11th and Commissioner Irene Fernando February 8th. We have a jump start on March and April and invitations are extended into Summer. December 14th on the other hand was tough. Lots of responses, lots of people who want to join us for a Saturday morning, but this Saturday seems to be the Saturday that everyone had plans. You’ll find me Saturday working the Holiday Market at Tattersall Distilling and if we don’t see you before hand, Happy New Year.

November 9th Stone Arch Discussion with Meg Forney of Minneapolis Parks
Second term Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) Commissioner-At-Large Meg Forney is our oldest Minneapolis elected seated official. With over four decades of hands-on park engagement, she possesses abundant park institutional knowledge. With six new members elected to the nine member Minneapolis Park Board in 2018, she can place her perspective on the board’s governance in a historical context.
Meg was Mayor Don Fraser’s appointee to the Committee on Urban Environment (CUE) from 1991-2004, chairing the celebratory CUE Awards. Since 2003, she has advocated for Mississippi riverfront access in areas where there is the least access to our natural resources — north and northeast Minneapolis. She presently chairs the MPRB Planning Committee and is the MPRB appointee to the Minneapolis Parks Foundation.
Professionally, she was the Associate Director of Project for Pride and Living in the ’70’s and has been a Realtor for over 40 years.

October 12th Stone Arch Discussion with Phyllis Kahn
Former Representative Phyllis Kahn joins our Stone Arch Discussion for a conversation about getting more scientists involved in politics. Dr. Kahn spent 44 years on the Minnesota Legislature and has a Ph.D. in biophysics and a MPA from Harvard. She has been the chief author of the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act (controlling smoking in public places), the computer crime and computer virus laws, and legislation on nuclear safety, radioactive waste disposal, field tests of genetically modified crops and infectious waste disposal. She also authored laws to require gender equity in athletics and laws prohibiting discrimination based on age or disability. She has been instrumental in obtaining funding for parks, trails, historic preservation, art-enhancement of State buildings, and the expansion of community and urban forests.
Join us at Wilde Cafe Saturday from 8:30 to 10:00 AM for a meaningful conversation about science and politics and why we need more scientists engaged in the realm of policy. This is open to the public, all we ask is that you buy your coffee or tea from a friendly barista at Wilde Cafe before joining is.
